About Candour Care Services

The founder/director of Candour Care Services is Rosario Fernandes. He is trained in the field of learning disability and mental illness having gained nursing qualifications of RNMH in 1973 and RMN in 1975, and went on to undertake a Cert. in Management Studies following this with the Registered Managers Award in 2005. Rosario worked in the NHS for a period of 33 years in a variety of settings and positions.

The founder/director of Candour Care Services is Rosario Fernandes. He is trained in the field of learning disability and mental illness having gained nursing qualifications of RNMH in 1973 and RMN in 1975, and went on to undertake a Cert. in Management Studies following this with the Registered Managers Award in 2005. Rosario’s personal experience of working in a large institution inspired him to set up Broadview, as he became convinced of the need to find a better alternative to long term hospital care.

Our Aim, Objectives, Philosophy and Processes

To provide a high quality person-specific care and support service and for people with autistic spectrum conditions and profound learning disabilities towards maximising their life potentials.

All our care services are situated in the village of Welwyn, an idyllic rural setting that offers a most suitable environment for people with autistic spectrum conditions. There is easy access to the nearby towns of Hitchin, Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City which provides comprehensive shopping and recreational facilities, together with good public transport including mainline railway stations.

Our Homes

Broadview

Broadview is a special facility with person specific adaptations to meet individual requirements. It is an extensive detached house set in a private location with spacious gardens and will provide a home for 8 service users with profound learning disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders. Broadview was opened 1998.

Homeside

Homeside is a special facility with person specific adaptations to meet individual requirements. It is an extensive detached house set in a private location with spacious gardens and provides a home for 6 men with autistic spectrum disorders. Homeside was opened in 2001.

Hillcrest

Hllcrest was established in 2012. It is a very specially developed facility with person specific adaptations to meet individual requirements. It is an extensive detached house set in a private location with spacious gardens and will provide a home for 9 men with autistic spectrum disorders. Hillcrest is situated next to Broadview in the village of Welwyn, an idyllic rural setting that offers a most suitable environment for people with autistic spectrum conditions.
